What is a rental agreement?
A lease is an agreement (agreement) in which one party (the lessor) undertakes to make an item available to the other party (the lessee), while the lessee in turn is obliged to make a consideration.
What notice period applies to living space?
In the case of permanent residence, the landlord has a notice period of three months plus one month for each year that the tenant has occupied the housing. But the maximum notice period for the landlord is six months.

What is (un)independent living space?
Independent living space is living space (an entire house or apartment) where the tenant has its own entrance and does not have to share facilities such as toilet, bathroom and kitchen with others.
No private entrance? Do you share the kitchen, bathroom and toilet with other tenants? For example, are you a room resident? In that case, you rent non-independent accommodation.
The difference is important because the protection of tenants of non-independent housing is somewhat more limited.
